Ayonga is one of the most accomplished authors writing in Mongolian today. He published his first piece in 1976 and his body of work now includes a dozen novels and novellas. He received Inner Mongolia's highest literary award in 1987, 1990 and in 1993.
This novel was translated into Chinese by Hasen, a Mongolian translator based in Beijing.
Jim Weldon has lived and worked in China for over twenty years, first in rural development and the nonprofit sector and subsequently as a full time translator. He studied Chinese at SOAS, graduating in 1997. His published translations include social science monographs, journal articles and journalism, art criticism and works of modern literature.
